< Go Back GRUMPY GROWLERS COURSES starting 4th January 2018 Posted: Jan 1, 2018 GRUMPY GROWLERS - SPECIALIST TRAINING COURSE
Do you have a dog who's grumpy around other dogs?
Are you a dog owner who has to walk your dog at a time when other dog walkers are not out and about or in places where no one else goes?
Then this is the course for you.
The course is designed for dogs who react negatively when in close proximity of other dogs. Is your dog scared of other dogs or over boisterous around other dogs or not had the opportunity to learn the social etiquette of dogs, how to meet and greet other dogs in a calm and controlled manner.
By getting a small group of dogs together who have the same issues you will be shown how to change your dog's behaviour toward other dog's. You will learn why they are displaying this unwanted behaviour and how to change it into a more positive attitude, which in turn will improve your dog's life and yours.
Your dog will learn how to stay calm around other dogs and you will understand why your pet has been displaying this behaviour and become a grumpy growler and what you can do to help him/her enjoy being around other dogs.
The course will be held at the training centre in the arena.
This is an outdoor facility, so you will need to dress appropriately including suitable sturdy footwear.
What you will need to bring with you
Dogs must have a flat lead of no more than 6ft in length (flexi leads are not permitted) and a secure flat collar.
If your dog needs to wear a muzzle or must wear a muzzle when near or in close proximity to other dogs, then you will need to bring this with you. Only suitable muzzles will be allowed (Baskerville type not canvas) and be correctly fitted. This is the one place where you won't feel uncomfortable if your dog is muzzled.
Plenty of high value treats (and we do mean plenty) and the dogs motivational toy if it has one.
DO NOT feed the dog for at least two hours prior to attendance (a dog will work better for you on an empty stomach rather than a full one)
Poo bags in case the dog needs to toilet.
If you want to change your dog's behaviour and improve their quality of life (and your own) then why not book onto this course with Colin.
Places are limited so please book early to avoid disappointment.
A minimum of 4 dogs will be required to run the course with a maximum of 6 dogs in attendance at any one time.
The course will run over a 5-week consecutive period in one hour sessions(subject to weather extremes. You will be notified by text, e mail or phone if due to such circumstances that the training on that day will not be taking place however moderate rain will not stop play).
Handling the dog
Only one owner will handle the dog during the training sessions, if you have a partner who wishes to come along to observe they are more than welcome.
If you have an additional dog with the same issues, then you will need to bring the dog separately or it can be handled by a partner. This is to ensure that each dog gets individual attention.
Children are not permitted on this course due to the nature of the training and to ensure your focus is on the training .
Course cost
£75 per dog for the 5-week course to be paid in advance on booking. See terms and conditions attached.
